  The Oktoberfest is a celebration, known for exceptional food and beer, held annually in Munich, Bavaria, Germany. Only beer that is brewed within the city limits of Munich can be served; more than 7 million liters is consumed during the 16 day festival! It began as wedding festivities on October 12 th, 1810, when Crown Prince Ludwig married Princess Therese of Saxony-Hildburghausen and the citizens of Munich were invited to celebrate.
